What is re:Turn?
re:Turn is a prayer gathering that is being put together in response to Lou Engle’s call for believers around the nation to fast and pray for our nation leading up to a day of humbling ourselves before the Lord on November 1st. In August of 2008, a small group from western Pennsylvania attended The Call DC. While there, they heard the leadership of The Call encourage attendees to call Solemn Assemblies in their own home towns. They said that these prayer gatherings should take on an identity that reflected what God was doing in that area. re:Turn is a response to that call.

Why “re:Turn”?
Once we had to determine to host a prayer gathering to correspond with The Call California, we began to pray about and discuss what to call it. We decided on re:Turn because it speaks both or need to Turn and repent, and our need to return to God as a prodigal nation. Isaiah 35 speaks of the process of God’s children coming back to Him. It is an amazing passage that concludes in verse 10 by saying, “And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” We believe that this passage is as appropriate for our the believers of our nation today, as it was for the nation of Israel in the days of Isaiah.

Is re:Turn affiliated with The Call?
While there is no official affiliation between re:Turn and The Call, without a doubt The Call is the major influence for re:Turn. We anticipate that the re:Turn prayer gathering will be similar in format and flow to The Call events. We also acknowledge that part of the call to host solemn assemblies was to allow these events to take on the spirit of what God was saying to that city and/or region, so we anticipate that there will be a unique flavor to re:Turn that will reflect God’s heart for our region and His deposit in His people as they gather.

Connection between re:Turn and The Call Calirornia
We contacted the team from The Call to let them know we would be hosting a solemn assembly in response to Lou’s request for people to set aside November 1st for prayer and fasting for California and the nation. A member of the team responded and we are anticipating being able to join The Call California live for some key parts of the day via GodTV. The team member also encouraged us to incorporate several key elements of The Call’s agenda into re:Turn. We are excited to do so.
